DREAM

I am in the living room of the little house, tied to a chair, a child-sized chair. There is a videographer doing a sound-check. I feel very in the moment, and yet, not.

“Why are you here?” the man asks.

“To find the Ancient Gym,” I reply. “But if that’s a problem, I’ll go home.”

Waltraud has calipers and appears to be measuring my body fat. She frowns.

“I think you are losing weight,” she says.

“This is good news, no?” I say.

“No,” she says.

“What are you guys doing?” I ask.

A black-hooded man with a Kalashnikov strapped across his chest walks up to me and laughs. In his right hand is a Day-Glo orange golf ball, which he is casually tossing and catching.

I feel panicky.

“Not mini-golf!” I say, my chest heaving, my breath short.

The old lady and the videographer look at each other and laugh. I wake up.
